GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team’s Garrett Gerloff scored an eighth-place result in both of Sunday’s FIM Superbike World Championship races at Magny-Cours, with Kohta Nozane taking a top 15 finish in Race 2.
In the Superpole Race, Gerloff showed strong pace, but lost positions to run ninth at the end of the opening lap. The American battled throughout the 10-lap contest and crossed the line in eighth, while his teammate finished 16th after a solid performance.
Afterwards, in the warmer second race, Gerloff get off the line well but found himself outside the top 10 following some light contact. The 27-year-old managed to recover those positions and held off Loris Baz’s BMW to match his SPRC result.
On the other side of the garage, after finishing 16th in the sprint, Nozane enjoyed a decent start and gained a couple of places. Eventually, the #3 rider showed solid pace despite struggling with tyre wear at the end, taking one point in 15th.
The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team will come back in two weeks for the eighth round at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló on 23-25 September.

Garrett Gerloff: SPRC – P8 / Race 2 – P8
"Today was a bit difficult, everybody had really good pace. The Superpole Race is always hectic and tough to manage, but at least I was able to recover to eighth place, which is better than nothing. Same thing in Race 2, I had contact from another rider and went wide, so I had to fight my way back. It is what it is, but I’ll keep fighting and focus on Barcelona, where I have good memories from 2020."
Kohta Nozane: SPRC – P16 / Race 2 – P15
“Overall the day wasn’t too bad, but it’s not enough. We tried something different for Race 2 and the pace was OK, even though in the final stages I struggled a bit with the tyres. To come back and score points is positive, but we are aiming for more. We’ll head to Barcelona now, I like the circuit so we’ll try to enjoy a strong weekend there.”
