After a promising French round, the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team is eager to return to action for the eighth round of the 2022 FIM Superbike World Championship at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Last time out in Magny-Cours, Garrett Gerloff enjoyed a strong weekend with a fine qualifying performance, going on to score fifth in both the Tissot Superpole qualifying and Race 1.
The American rider heads into the weekend with fond memories of the Barcelona circuit, having scored a maiden podium here in in his rookie WorldSBK season.
On the other side of the garage, Kohta Nozane improved his pace throughout the French round. The Japanese rider enjoyed one of the best performances of his rookie campaign at Montmeló last year, and as one of his favourite tracks, he’s aiming for a strong outing again this weekend.
After the Friday practice sessions and Superpole qualifier, Race 1 will get underway at 14:00 local time (CET) on Saturday, with Race 2 starting exactly 24 hours later on Sunday, following the SPRC at 11:00.
Garrett Gerloff
“We made a good step forward in France last time out, so I am really looking to build on that in Barcelona. I’ve got good memories from my first season here, and I’m sure we can close the gap to the guys out front. The Yamaha R1 was feeling really good in Magny-Cours, and I’m excited to get back on track.”
Kohta Nozane
“I can’t wait to be in Barcelona, it’s one of my favorite circuits, so I’m heading into the weekend with a good feeling. I know what we’re capable of and it’s time to translate our pace into results. The weather will be unpredictable, but last year we proved to be fast in wet conditions, so we’re ready for any kind of race.”
